Frequently asked questions

What is Picurio?
Picurio lets you collect and download photos with family and friends in a collaborative space called a "room". Think Google Docs for photos.
How do I get started?
Go to the Home page and click Get a Room.
I created my room. Now what?
Your room sits at a url that looks like this: http://picurio.com/room/YourRoomName. Tell friends about that url so that they can upload their photos to the room.

Upload your own photos by clicking the upload button in the toolbar. Create albums to organize the photos for easy viewing and downloading.

Who can remove photos from a room?
In general, Picurio users can only completely remove from a room those photos that they've uploaded.

Room administrators are the exception. A room administrator can completely and permanently remove any photo from the room.

By default, the room creator is the administrator. You can tell if you're the administrator by looking next to your login email in the upper right corner of Picurio.

How can I use Picurio for free?
We want you to use Picurio for free! Here's the deal. Create a free room starting on the Home page. Then invite friends to join your room by sharing your room url with them. For every friend who joins Picurio for the first time via your room, we will add two weeks on to the lifetime of your room, completely free!

It's cumulative, so if you get ten friends to join your room right from the start, you'll immediately get 5 months free. Friends have to be brand new to Picurio, so they don't count if they have an existing account with some other room. Keep inviting friends to join and you'll keep using the room for free. Create a second room, and the same rules apply.

To get you started, you'll get your first two weeks for free, no invites needed!

Check the number of days the room will remain open by looking in the room's menu bar.

Can I convert a free room to a paid room?
Of course you can, and in fact anyone can do it. For example, if you start out with a free room for your family, anyone (like Mom!) can shell out the few dollars to convert it to a paid room.

Go to the room, click on the settings button in the upper right corner, enter some credit card information, and you're all set. Your room will remain open whether or not you invite new people to join it.

What do I get with a room?
Rooms come with 2GB of photo storage and unlimited uploading and downloading for as many people as you'd like.

There is no limit on the number of albums you can create, or the number of people who can use the room.

If you and your friends are no longer using a room, just close it. You can close a room and stop paying for it at any time.

How will I get charged?
Every payment of $4.95 will add 30 days onto the lifetime of your paid room. Your card will automatically be charged once every 30 days, each time adding 30 days to the lifetime of the room. You can cancel and stop charges at any time.
Is my credit card information safe?
Absolutely, we recognize that identity theft is a threat. Credit card information is transferred over a SSL certified connection and stored in a Level 1 PCI DSS compliant environment in order to minimize risk to your data.
How do I close a room?

Make sure you are logged into the paying account. Then in the room, click the settings button in the upper right corner.

If you stop inviting friends to join a free room, or if no one has accessed your free room for six months, we'll close it automatically. To close it immediately, click on the settings button in the upper right corner.

Can I convert a paid room to a free room?
Sure. Email us at info@picurio.com.
Can I get a bigger room?
Need more than 2GB of space? We can probably help. Email us at info@picurio.com.
How do I send photos to Facebook?
All of the photos that you have uploaded to your room will also be present in your personal library (labeled as 'My Library' in the room/album list on the left side of the screen). From your personal library you can create albums and send as many as you'd like to Facebook. When you add additional photos to Facebook-shared albums, the new photos automatically appear on Facebook. You can also import all of your Facebook photos into your personal library.
I've got another question. Who can I ask?
We're happy to help. You can go to our Support page, or email us at info@picurio.com and we'll get back to you right away.
